On 21 November 2025, Prof. Dr. Jernej Letnar Černič delivered a talk on climate inequality, housing issues and vulnerabilities at the panel “Addressing Negative Impacts on Selected Socio‑Economic Rights” at the conference “Climate Inequality, Human Rights and Sustainable Development”, organised at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva by Surya Deva, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development, and the Geneva Center for Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue. Professor Letnar Černič emphasised that the devastation caused by the recent floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Spain calls for comprehensive climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies. These strategies must be grounded in the rule of law, strong institutions, participation, accountability and transparent procedures, and promote equality of capabilities for vulnerable local communities.
